On a Healthy Path by Detoxing First
What if you could start fresh?
On my journey for a healthier me, I have been looking around for a more "appealing" way to detox my body. Someone from my Essential Oil group put this link on social media and I had to check it out. I looked at all the ingredients and like what I see. The ingredients are always important to me, because I believe the whole process will work better if you actually like whatever it is you are attempting, especially when it's an attempt to become healthier.
The ingredients may be a little challenging because, one; they may not be in season and two; they may be a bit pricy depending on the season. That should not really matter a whole lot if your goals need to be reached. In other words, it should be worth it to you!
So here is the link to a 48 hour cleansing.

I would love to hear if you try it and how it made you feel.

Homemade Household Products
I have been on a mission for the better part of my life to remain as "natural" as possible. In this past year, I have become almost obsessed with finding ways to rid our household of toxins.
In looking back through the rapidly passing years, I'm appalled by how easily society has become so gullible to marketed poisonous products. Anytime the advertisements get "new and improved", bigger, brighter, faster or taller, etc... people jump right off the cliff and into the pit of suckers.
I am so thankful for my Mother who raised ten children on a very meek budget, and taught us how to keep our lives unadulterated by advertisements. Shielding us wasn't necessarily on purpose, it was out of practicality. A lot of things within our household were home made and simply not wasted. Mother certainly was a pro at stretching a dollar and I fortunately have retained those lessons.
I will try to link up to blogs with similar useful household ingredients and such along the way and will include some of my own as time permits. Until next time, here is a link to the newest that I found!
This is a link to Jilly's Blog that I found very appealing.
Breathing freshness,
Tina

Pinata for Chickens
In the winter when the chickens are all cooped up and bored with nothing to do, we like to make pinatas for them. We've heard that giving them extra activities to do, when they can't get out to free-range, will help them from going bonkers and even in some cases, from going cannibalistic. Here is a little recipe for a home made treat.
Put 2 cups of their scratch grains into a large bowl and add 1 cup of rolled oats, 1 cup of cornmeal, a hand full of raisins or blueberries, cranberries or other small berry, 3/4 cup molasses or honey or mix half each, 3 or 4 eggs and 1/2 cup of beef tallow or lard. Mix it all up and put it in a couple greased pans, I used bread pans.
Bake at 375 for about 25 minutes or so. You'll want it to be firm in the center so they don't just rip it apart. I like for it to last at least a day or so.
I will be making up a batch tomorrow so hopefully remembering to take some photos to share. I will be trying to put a whole in one end so that I can hang it for them to peck at.
We also hang a head of cabbage by sticking a screw into the core and hanging that from above. They love it.
Pinatas make for happy chickens, I hope you will try it for yours!

Still Got Eggs in this Bitter Cold!
Today was bitter cold. Thank God for wood for the fireplace and vegetables to make a most nutritious soup for supper!
I dug out coveralls out of storage this morning. I didn't realize we would need them this early in the year. Stepping out on the porch to get a few pieces of firewood, I realized that I needed the extra protection before the dog and I went to give the chickens a treat of leftover scraps and to make sure the animal's water wasn't frozen.
I decided to get some blood moving and walked down to the mailbox while I was already bundled. I felt exerted by the time I walked back up the hill and was thinking how all the extra attire seamed to weigh me down. It'd been a few days (or so) since I got any real exercise and obviously it was needed!
I carried three arm loads of wood in from the wood shed when I got back and that was all enough for me! It's funny how much more lazy I feel when it turns colder. It's harder to get out from under those warm blankets in the morning, too.
The girls gave me four eggs today! The youngest are finally deciding to lay and it couldn't be too soon. I wish we would have butchered earlier and gotten more chicks early on. Maybe we'll be better prepared next year. For now, we are thankful for their offerings.
Love and Warmth,
Tina

Quick Little Moisturizer
A quick little moisturizer that I like to use is:
1/4 cup coconut oil
1/2 tsp. Vitamin E
2 drops of essential oil (I like Lavender or Tea Tree Oil)
I am mixing small amounts because I like the ingredients to be fresh and I don't want what goes in my body or on my body to be stale. I can't be certain of the shelf life of this moisturizer, because I don't let it sit for long before it gets used. I just know that it makes my skin soft and pliable and for me, that works!

Honey Cures Me
For my dry skin, I use fresh from my hives, pure natural honey!
For my bee stings... yes, if you keep bees, you are going to get stung! I've put a mixture of honey topped with cinnamon and the swelling from any of my stings have healed within two days.
I use honey for a sore throat or even just a scratchy or tickle in my throat.
I will be trying some recipes for honey cough drops soon, so hopefully they will turn out great and I can post how they turn out!
I love replacing processed sugars with honey in all my sweet-tooth recipes.
Of course I use honey in my tea and other beverages.
Winnie the Pooh is a really smart little bear and one of my many favorite children's story characters. I believe I will add fun literature of him to the list of gift giving this year along with sweet little honey treats!
Occasionally I will be adding some of these remedies with my own methods of using them for you to try if you so desire.

Nature's Cures
Keeping Honeybees has been one of the most rewarding of experiences
up close and personal to nature that I have ever done. Fishing is right
up there as is vegetable and herb gardening. Honey bees have been added
just within the last eight or so years and actually hands on, just in
the last three years. We've had to learn A LOT and every day since we
started, Tim and I keep learning something new or take interest in
something that we still need to learn about beekeeping in order to
better sustain our colonies.
I've decided to venture into finding all natural ways for us to live and am looking more into using everything that God gifted us with in our daily routines and healthful regiments. Whatever goes into or onto our bodies needs to be or become void of any and all toxins, free radicals, poisons; and in doing so, I will be adding what works for us on here.
Whatever mixtures or ingredients that work for my family or me, does not nor do I ever mean to imply that they will work for you and yours. This blog and or any of my writings are only meant for a means for me to share our own health journey and what is working or in some cases maybe, not working. It is never meant to diagnose or impress upon others what may not be scientifically "proven" as medicinal treatments.
So with that said, my love for honey bees is deep and I hope that I can share with you some of the fascinating adventures we experience everyday!

Antique Nasal Douche
It's almost dry sinus season and I found this little treasure to add to our unusual antique collection. Not everyone has one of these, ya know!
Today we use a more modern Neti Pot and I find it really necessary whenever I feel that persistent dryness coming on and nothing else seems to relieve my chronic winter-time sinus trouble. A little salt dissolved in warm water and through the nose it goes. Refreshing.
The little treasure in the photos is still in tact with the original box. Someone estimated the date these were manufactured at around 1920-1940.

The Organic Me
Okay, so I have another blog that I have been giving attention to, obviously more than this one. I am a person who has ALWAYS had more irons in the pot than I have hands to stir them with! This is OKAY! (I tell myself that, often).
I finally came to a way that may be easier and more sensible for me to still keep BOTH!!! YAY!
When I named Graceful Acceptance, it came from the fact that in a time in my life, I had to learn to grow older/wiser with as much grace as I could. I needed to accept that life and passing of time was totally out of my control. When I decided to stay true to my own beliefs and disregard what others may think, I began a new and more refreshing journey than I ever thought to be possible. I had struggled with things like deciding to keep putting colorants and chemicals in my hair, just so I wouldn't have more grey than all of my older sisters or deciding NOT to suffer through the allergic reactions, smells and dread of the job of covering my head with all that junk and sitting in it for thirty plus minutes while my skin burned and I breathed those nasty fumes. I was doing this every other month because my grey is very determined to shine! Well, I have long since become my husband's "silver fox" and I am not at all bothered by sitting next to anyone who may be still struggling. (Like nobody can tell that color is not real)!
I think it is sad and I don't understand how people can become obsessed with Hollywood glitz and glamor to the point they feel such a desperate need to change what God blessed them with in the ways that are not at all natural. It all became such huge industries that even in small towns, it is apparent people have lost sight of pure & natural beauty.
Okay so on beyond the 'appearance' issues. I have always been a lover of nature and have a high regard for God's creatures and our borrowed earth. I know that there is everything in nature that God provided for us to sustain our lives. This is what I am thankful for!
Therefore, Graceful Acceptance will become the place for my healthy living and natural sustainability journey where I can share my work toward promoting our honey bees, organic food networks, essential oils and herbs and how I use them and all things that help with living free of chemically ridden products that are reeking havoc on our bodies and our environment.
I really don't mind if you want to call me a hippie. I was actually born in the early sixties and grew up around a lot of hippie people doing a lot of hippie things. It was a great era!
So please bare with me while I slowly but surely load content on this side of my blog activities as I continue to share the world as I know it. I will be back and forth between Graceful Acceptance, and another with plans to eventually link.
Until next time, please find a spot in nature, sit quietly and just appreciate your surroundings!

Coming Home
Hi all you Bloggers out there! I went on a little hiatus thinking that I could start blogging with another service provider and put Graceful Acceptance on a back burner. Well... lets just say that it was not a site that turned out to be as comfortable as Blogger is to me. Lets face it, I am a plain and simple kind of gal and I appreciate "user friendly" more than a lot of techie types. That's just who I am! I am so glad to be back and am looking forward to this relief!

Time Management
I usually get up around 6:00 to 6:30 a.m. and go to bed about 9:30 to 10:00 p.m. I have never been a really good time manager apparently, because I struggle getting things done in any given day. My husband teases that I have A.D.D as well as O.C.D. I am a pro at multitasking and can have any number of things in my hand on a mission through the house, depositing, transferring, and accomplishing. I NOTICE what needs done and it will not happen unless I make it happen. I've donated so many things over the years to the "pass it on" shops in the attempt to "de-clutter" my surroundings. I am NOT at all a nick knack person, so it's not like I have a lot of extra objects to just look at but for some reason I can never have enough space... Oh, I forgot to tell you that I am a bit claustrophobic. I really like seeing my floors!
ANYWAY, I am getting a new-to-me embroidery machine that belonged to my late sister. I am super excited and yet a bit nervous at the same time. I am giving a pretty penny for this machine and want to make money back to put back into our savings and I am giving myself two years to do it. So this is where as of late, I am even more determined to have a better time management plan so that I can still take the best care of my family and have a small business goal.
This a.m after waking, I felt stiff so I forced myself to get in about a twenty or so minute workout, ate breakfast, fixed hubby's lunch, hung and folded the laundry that I didn't get into the dryer until late last night, stripped our bed to wash the linens today, (still needing dried as I write), vacuumed the upstairs two rooms, added the ingredients for the sour dough bread that I set out last night for it to go through the first rising, washed the dishes and thought about my routine and how I'm so tired at night that my blog writing is getting neglected and that I really need to make time in the mornings to check e-mails, blog and work on setting up the online shop. Here it is already 10:30 and I haven't gotten into my sewing room yet.
I'm sure it will all work out and after my learning curve on this new machine, I will start with Christmas and then move on to planning for next years agenda.
I just wish that I could make more time to connect with others who are making their home businesses work. I will squeeze in some time to seek.
Happy Tuesday,
Oh and Graceful Acceptance couldn't be more appropriate to my life because I am in constant reminding that everything happens in God's time and I have chosen to accept those things with as much grace as I can.

Creating
I've spent a great amount of time in my little studio this past week. I have a family reunion this weekend including a memorial to my all too recently late sister. I had started a fabric collage book for our Mother before I visited my sister a couple weeks ago. She never got to see it and I am bound and determined to get it finished for this memorial/reunion. I know she would have loved it. As soon as I am able I will post pictures. It is good and therapeutic to have a creative release with my sister watching over me. She has always been a great inspiration to me.
I am feeling blessed.

In Memory of My Mom... for me: My Sister
This was put together by my nieces and I wanted to include it. My sister was the most creative, remarkable, kind, soft spoken, gentle person that I've ever known. At the end of this video are some of her beautiful paintings as well as some quilts that she made. I have many wall quilts and table mats and things that she has given me through the years. They make me so happy to have them. She has taught me so very many neat things about painting and quilting and today, I worked all day in my sewing room just thinking about how patient she was and what an inspiration to me she will always be. God truly Blessed my life having her in it. Enjoy!

Hole in My Heart
It has been a few days and I'm probably still not ready to be posting yet. I had very recently sent a link to my blog to my sister. This was the very first person who I sent a link to. I am usually a very "private" person and wanted a very inspirational and highly respected "close" person to share it with and my sister would have understood where I wanted to take my blog eventually.
She passed away Tuesday night. I don't know if she got a chance to view it or what she thought of it. So many things are missed and so many memories to hold tight to. I feel like I've been in a sort of whirl wind.
It was only three months ago that she was suddenly diagnosed with stage 4 Pancreatic cancer that spread also quickly to her liver. This was someone who barely suffered from a head cold so it was so sudden for our family. There is no one as kind, patient, creative and inspirational as she was to me and all who knew her. I give so much credit to her for any creativity that I possess. What an inspiration she will forever be to me.

Loving Life
I have been working on a fabric collage book for my Mother and although have seen lots of photos of these, have never attempted one before this. I am using a lot of antique and newer lace, fabrics and some photos and it is quite lovely and unique. I guess that's how they come about; adding and arranging along the whole creative way until it becomes what it will.
I was so excited to take a huge initiative in getting the guest room turned into "MY" little design studio and creative space. It is a few weeks later and I still get excited when I go in there. Hence it has become a bit more difficult for me to post as often as I had planned. The hammered dulcimer that my hubby gave me for my birthday, didn't help with any extra time either. Although, I fear my worse dilemma may be the lack of photo capturing to add of projects and things to share. I will slip this one in quickly!
While I love blogging and wish for correspondence with like-minds, I know perhaps it will take time to get discovered and have enough valid worthwhile posts for repeat readers. For this, I am anxious! I am amazed at just how much time getting a blog up and running has taken for me and yet, I'm okay with that for I am a patient person. Others I have read, say that it didn't happen overnight for them either, so perseverance onward.

Dulcimer
I thought that I would go through and organize some photos that I wanted to post as well as getting started individual boxes for each of our grown kids. For me, getting my new creative space to work in was quite the accomplishment so a pat on the back for getting as far as I have with all the other things going on. I love my new space and have worked a little on some projects here and there with intentions of going into it full force soon.
Well, today is my Birthday and my absolutely amazing husband went out and found a Hammered Dulcimer for me! Wow!
No, I don't know how to play it yet, but have always wanted one and am a determined person, so it will sound beautiful some day!
The dilemma is... that I have to now make time to practice without getting so involved that I don't get my work done.

Still finding my way around
I'm so thankful for some of the blogs that are so helpful when it comes to design and layouts. I am still struggling to find time to work on filling in some of my blanks. By the time I get to really get into any computer work is usually at the end of the day when I'm already tired so am thankful just to get a few lines written.
On the plus side, I have been getting my new work space set up and am becoming quite pleased with the multiple work stations that I've been arranging for all of the creative upcoming jobs. It will make it much nicer to work with the room that I have now.

Just wanted to add some photos of a few of my favorite collectibles that just lay around my house and make me happy!
A tarnished baby cup and utensils that go right along with all of the baby shoes that I collect. An old box that I use to keep some of my tatting thread in. And a doily that some dear lady tediously crochet many years in the past.
The old apple peeler still works and I often think that the "new and improved" tools are rarely ever as useful as those first invented.

Drooling over shops again
As I look around at other Blogs and drool, I get very anxious about posting some pictures and sharing what I feel others with the same interest would appreciate. I feel the need to apologize for not having more content yet. I do hope those who have viewed will bookmark and come back for a visit.
We all know how busy our lives get when all we really want to do is go junquing, design or decorate, create and just live in our little wonder-worlds. Ho hum... still dreamy from looking at other beautifully designed blogs and wish I could snap my fingers and make mine what my heart desires!
Today shall be busy and so I shall return!

Nostalgic Photos
I've changed the header above several times in the past few days. I think I may keep this one at least until I have more time to play with the graphics programs. The photos are my own. I think the old doily and baby shoes against the barn wood and box gives me the feel of the nostalgia that I'm looking to share.
Yesterday morning, I spent the first four hours after and during my coffee-time, baking oatmeal cookies, peanut butter cookies and a chocolate pudding cake. While the oven was on, I wanted to get as much done to share with family members that I will be seeing this weekend. Even if I wasn't visiting, it always seems a bit of a weekend-time-saver, if I get some of the cooking out of the way ahead of time. The temperatures have been in the mid fifties at night and upper seventies in the daytime, so with that chill in the air, I do get in the mood for sort of "nesting" activities.
Grandkids in Mo. started their first day of school for this term. The year will finish out quickly, I'm sure. Before we know it we will be planning Thanksgiving & Christmas as it seems once school is in session, it all goes so fast.
I'm so anxious to meet some of you who have the same interests.
